Make Your Own Jewelry or that special Christmas Gift - Saturday, December 5, 9am-12pm
Whether you're new to making jewelry or an experienced jeweler, taking a class can be a great way to learn basic & new jewelry making techniques. Pre-registration is required, as class sizes are limited.
Workshop will last for three hours, so you may be able to make multiple items in Level 1 and Level 2:
Level 1: Beading -
Learn how easy and fun it is to make your own jewelry. Using just a few simple materials you can make beautiful pieces for your friends and family. Great as gifts for birthdays or holidays. This class will instruct you on the basics of beading and introduce you to the wide variety of materials available in the marketplace today to create fantastic, one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces - everything you need to get started on a hobby that is both fun and fulfilling. But BEWARE: Beading can be addictive! Class time is approx.3 hours. CLASS LIMITED TO 6 STUDENTS - so sign up today. Pre-registration is required due to the limited number of participants.
Class fee of $25 includes instruction, information handout, use of all tools needed in class, and enough stringing material, crimp beads and a toggle clasp to complete one bracelet.
Supplies needed for class: various beads, crystals, pearls of your choice. You may bring your own bags - or bags of coordinating colors will be available for purchase prior to class ($1 per bag). You must arrive 15-20 minutes early to choose colors, if you are not bringing your own supplies.
Level 2: Hammered Metal Pendant(Beginner Level) Create a one-of-a-kind pendant from copper and brass sheet metal. You will learn to texture, bend, dome and patina the metal. You will also layer shapes and textures to design a rustic piece that is uniquely yours. A basic wrapped loop technique will be taught to finish your pendant a simple hook and eye clasp. Class time is approximately 3 hours. CLASS LIMITED TO 6 STUDENTS. Pre-registration is required due to the limited number of participants.
Tools used during class include: round,
chain and bent-nose pliers, flush cutters, metal shears, metal files,
various hammers, punches and metal stamps, metal bench block, and
dapping block.
Class fee of $35 (necklace) or $45 (necklace and earrings) includes instruction, information handout, use of all tools needed in class, sandpaper, Patina solution, Microcrystalline wax (to polish finished piece), practice wire.
